A Local RESOURCE for Morris County + Somerset Hills Families by a Local Mom

This site was founded with the very simple goal of Giving Moms (& Dads!) the Gift of Time. We strive to be your go-to resource for everything in and around Morris County + Somerset Hills, New Jersey!

The Morris Bernards Moms Network seeks to provide families a place to find all the info you’re looking for when it comes to caring for & entertaining your families in Morristown, Madison, Chatham, Harding, Florham Park, Mendham, Chester, Long Valley, Bernardsville, Peapack Gladstone, Far Hills, Bedminster, and Basking Ridge. Our site includes a calendar of events, local resources for our neighborhoods, special deals for our network, a curated online marketplace and general information that we find helpful to families including  highlighting the joyous chaos that comes along with being a parent.

Meet Melissa, the Mom behind morrisbernardsmoms.com

Born and raised in Westfield, we moved to my husband’s hometown of Mendham in 2013. I am a former Sr. Marketing Manager, turned Stay at Home Mom to our three children, Georgia (7), Freddie (5) & Paige (3), living our best life in the New Jersey countryside. I love the small town feel of Mendham and I’m so excited to provide a resource to make life a little easier for parents across our neighboring towns!

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT BEING A MOM
It changes every day! My kids are 7, 5 and 3 and keep me on my toes for sure, but I love having mini conversations with them and hearing the random things that come out of their mouths – that definitely tops my list!

FAVORITE MOMMY BABY BONDING ACTIVITY
Toddler Time at Hilltop Christian Nursery School!

FAVORITE TIME OF YEAR IN MORRIS COUNTY?
Hands down the Fall! We have so many amazing farms to pick your own apples and pumpkins and enjoy all the country has to offer!

WHERE’S YOUR GO-TO SPOT FOR A DATE NIGHT, OR FOR DINNER WITH THE FAMILY?
We love a date night at Ninety Acres in Peapack. Try to arrive an hour earlier than your reservation to have a drink by their outdoor fire pits too! Our area has so many family-friendly options, but one we love is Millie’s Old World Meatballs & Pizza in downtown Morristown. Most items are easily shareable and in the warmer months they open the front sliding doors for outdoor seating. Another favorite is grabbing ice cream at Mendham Creamery – it’s a fun treat for a low key evening in town!

WHEN YOU HAVE FAMILY/ FRIENDS, IN TOWN, WHERE DO YOU RECOMMEND THEY STAY (IF NOT WITH YOU, OF COURSE!)?
The Madison Hotel in Morristown is a great local option; it has two restaurants on site and an indoor pool, which is great for kids of any age!

WHERE DO YOU GO FOR A DRINK? FOR COFFEE?
The Black Horse Pub is a Mendham staple and as one on NJ’s oldest restaurants it’s a must. It’s a great casual spot to grab a drink and listen to a live local band on Friday or Saturday Nights! You can also find us at Stirling Tavern or Roots in Morristown for a fun kid free night out. And for coffee, Simple Coffee in Mendham (I’ve been know to use this as my office every once in a while also).

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE STORE IN THE AREA?
I love to shop local and nothing beats the variety of Windswept or Pretty Pink Rooster, you can always find that “it” piece you are looking for. Baby Crossing is perfect for the little ones and Tons of Toys in Bernardsville is my go-to for birthday gifts! They not only have so many gift options, but they do everything from personalization to gift wrapping!

IF SOMEONE IS VISITING THE MENDHAM AREA, WHAT ARE THE MUST-DO ACTIVITIES?
We have SO MANY local farms who offer anything from pick your owns to pony rides, most of which are open all year long too. Since Morristown is such a historical spot too (George Washington spent a lot of time in this area) you can visit museums and fort sites too.

ANY SEASONAL EVENTS THAT PEOPLE MIGHT PLAN A TRIP AROUND?
Hands down, our favorite is the Brookside Fourth of July Parade. It is the quintessential small town parade down Main Street. The whole community comes out for it and you get all those good feels. It makes me remember year after year why we moved here and how much we love this area.

OUR MISSION IS TO GIVE MOMS THE GIFT OF TIME; WHAT IS YOUR BEST TIME-SAVING MOM TIP?
I hate a schedule, but I am very organized, and I’ve been known to plan things months in advance! My husband thinks I’m nuts because I literally buy Polar Express tickets in August, but if you don’t want to miss out on things, it’s a great idea to get a head start on your planning. Our Calendar page is an awesome resource for this. It gives an overview of each month so you never miss out on an activity happening around town!

Hope to see you around town!
