Whether you’re a mom to be, a new mom or a veteran, a mom is always trying to find time to balance it all – work, fun, fitness and of course the idea of down time. Our job here at the Mendham Moms Network is to help give you the gift of time and with Cr3ation Fitness we did just that. Michelle Makela-Belo, certified personal trainer, specializing in prenatal and postnatal fitness as well as sports conditioning has amazing programs to help moms throughout their pregnancy journey.
FUN FACT: Did you know that postnatal fitness doesn’t mean a few months after you give birth? Postnatal means ANYTIME after giving birth – weeks, months or even years!
Last month I had the opportunity to hang with Michelle and take one of her amazing classes at Mama Bird Center in Chester. This on was a mother- child class and I think Freddie stole the show and he loved being able to explore the studio while I worked out. Not only is Michelle able to modify the workouts to meet my specific needs (I’m pregnant and certain moves like the superman swim on my bellie I’m not able to do) but she’s a mom too so she gets it! She helped entertain Freddie when he didn’t want to be my “weight” anymore without skipping a beat in our hour long class.
If you want to workout sans kiddos, Michelle offers a variety of classes both in and out of the studio. If you’re like me though, I struggle working out at home and love the idea of going to a class each week (and sometimes i just want to work out alone!). Michelle has recently created new programs using exercise as a way to minimize low back, pelvic girdle, and hip pain during pregnancy and throughout motherhood. “I’ve developed these programs, because for us as women, often a little bit of exercise and a consult with a chiropractor or pelvic floor specialist can minimize and eventually eliminate pain so we can do what we love and don’t have to worry about missing out on moments with our kids.”
