Meet Alison Grzyb, owner of Far Hills Yoga & Sculpt | Morris Bernards Moms

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the area?
I am originally from Southern Indiana and Louisville, Kentucky – a little southern place called Kentuckiana! I have lived in NJ for 15 years.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?
I have 2 sons: Joey is 14 years old and Luke is almost 13 years old

Are you involved in a business venture or corporate world? Please Share!
Aside from owning Far Hills Yoga & Sculpt, I specialize in Mobility, Mindfulness and Yoga for Athletes. With an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology and a Masters in Psychology, helping athletes with their minds and bodies has been my passion for many years. I work with kids, teens, college age and professional athletes. I love helping student athletes navigate the pressures and demands from their sports, academics and family life. I lead summer sessions for student athletes called Elevate with my friend and business partner who is a Sports Psychologist, and we teach students to care for their mind and body with mental toughness tools and mobility.

When did you decide you wanted to open your own yoga studio?
In 2021, I started to think about owning a studio so that I could have a place to share everything I have learned about the mind and body. The thought continued to grow in my heart, and I decided to take a leap of faith! I am so proud of Far Hills Yoga & Sculpt and the community that we have built!

Has fitness and wellness always been a part of your life?
Yes, I grew up in gymnastics and competitive cheerleading, and I have always been a sports fanatic. I was an avid runner for many years, and I found hot yoga while recovering from a back injury. I have always been fascinated by the mind-body connection and how we can stay present and strong in a very distracted and busy world.

What is your favorite class to teach?
I love to teach a strong, mobility based power yoga class with some really good music! I LOVE music and you’ll always find some sing along tunes while taking my class.

For someone looking to get started with yoga, what do you recommend?
I recommend taking the pressure off of yourself to β€œget it right” as a beginner because yoga isn’t about self-perfection and poses that you would see on instagram, yoga is about self- acceptance and listening to your body! I also recommend emailing [email protected] to be well taken care of! πŸ™‚ Being a beginner can be exciting if we approach it with an open mind and heart. All yoga poses have modifications, and this practice is for everybody. Even if you are in a class that feels extra challenging, take rest when you need and keep coming. Showing up, breathing and being connected to your body is all that matters!

If you could give one tip to fellow Mom Entrepreneurs what would it be?
Make time to connect and share vulnerably with other working moms. There is nothing in the world more inspiring to me than another Mom entrepreneur. Together, we are ambitious, family-focused and so powerful!
