Meet a DAD! Meet Dan Smith, Owner of Mosquito Shield of North Central New Jersey! | Morris Bernards Moms

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the area?
I am originally from a small town called Whiting in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. I have been living in the North Jersey area for five years now. By the way, where I’m from, we refer to it as pork roll.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?
I have a 4-year-old daughter named Savannah. She’ll be 5 in August and off to Kindergarten.

Are you involved in a business venture or the corporate world? Please share!
As the owner of Mosquito Shield of North Central NJ, my main objective is to provide effective mosquito and tick control solutions to help families enjoy their outdoor spaces without the hassle and worry of these pests. It’s a fulfilling venture as we strive to create mosquito-free environments and enhance the quality of life for our customers.

When did you decide you wanted to become a Mosquito Shield Franchise Owner?
I made the decision to become a Mosquito Shield franchise owner after carefully considering various entrepreneurial options. I was introduced to the business through a friend who owns a similar franchise. What attracted me to Mosquito Shield was its strong emphasis on providing exceptional service. I felt that Mosquito Shield prioritized customer satisfaction and focused on delivering high-quality mosquito and tick control solutions, which aligned with my goals.

Has owning your own business always been a part of your life?
Owning my own business has not always been a part of my life, but I have had a background that helped prepare me for this venture. For twenty years I worked in the photography industry and had the opportunity to work with several reputable photo studios in New York City, and later served as a photo editor for a men’s lifestyle magazine. These experiences equipped me with valuable skills such as attention to detail, client communication, and the ability to manage projects effectively. These skills and experiences have certainly played a role in preparing me for owning a business like Mosquito Shield.

What do you recommend for someone looking to get started with Mosquito Shield?
If you’re interested in getting started with Mosquito Shield, the first step is to give us a call to schedule our services. Our pricing is prorated throughout the summer season, which means you only pay for the services you receive. We have over 20 years of experience in providing effective mosquito and tick control. Our approach involves using a unique blend of all-natural oils supplemented with a small amount of control material. We are thorough in treating all active areas of your home, including decks, pools, patios, and swing sets. What sets us apart from the competition is our commitment to monitoring weather conditions and the mosquito population. Instead of following a fixed schedule, we adjust our visits based on these factors, typically coming out every 10 to 17 days. This ensures that our treatments are timely and effective. Furthermore, we offer full season coverage rather than selling individual treatments. This means you’ll receive more visits from us, leading to better results, all at a more affordable price. We also take pride in not requiring any contracts to be signed, and we back our services with a money-back guarantee. Your satisfaction is our top priority.

To get started, simply reach out to us via phone or email, and we’ll be happy to assist you in creating a mosquito-free environment for your enjoyment.

If you could give one tip to fellow Dad Entrepreneurs, what would it be?
My one tip for fellow Dad Entrepreneurs would be to prioritize work-life balance. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle of running a business, but don’t forget to spend quality time with your family. They are your biggest supporters and deserve your presence and attention.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
One thing people would be surprised to know about me is that I am a passionate nature lover. I have a deep care and concern for the environment. If I had the space, I would love to have bee hives and possibly even raise chickens. During my early photography adventures, I used to ride my bike to the library and watch photographic slide shows from the local camera club. Interestingly, most of the showcased images were of nature, featuring a plethora of insects. This experience greatly contributed to my ability to identify thousands of insects, including pests.

This love for nature and the knowledge gained through my photography endeavors have shaped my perspective and approach in the mosquito control business. I understand the importance of maintaining a balanced ecosystem while providing effective solutions to combat pests.
