Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the area?
I grew up in Connecticut and have lived in Chatham Borough for about 5 years. It’s been a wonderful community to raise our young children- we love it here.
How old are your Child(ren) and what are their age(s)?
I have two boys; they are 6 & 8 years old.
Are you involved in a business venture? Can you tell us a little about it?
Yes, I am an artist, and the face behind Hailey Aver Art. I specialize in pen and ink and watercolor florals. Pen and ink silhouettes are my most popular commissions.
How did the idea of your pen & ink floral silhouettes come about?
My floral silhouettes were inspired by my love for my children and my wish that I could freeze time with them.
Have you always worked in the art industry?
I have no formal art training but I have always found so much joy in drawing and painting and decided to pursue it. I feel so lucky to get to do what I love.
Do you create other kinds of “floral art” besides your silhouettes?
Absolutely! I create a variety of floral inspired pen and ink drawings and watercolor art. I am also happy to work with clients to bring their vision to life. I’m very excited to begin working on new ideas in the coming months as well.

If you could give one tip to fellow Mom Entrepreneurs what would it be?
It can be hard to put yourself out there. My advice is to let go of self doubt and go for it!

1 – Favorite thing to do with your kids? My favorite thing to do with my boys is read to them. We recently finished the Harry Potter series. It was so much fun to see the magic come to life for them. We also really enjoy taking the kids to LBI to play in the surf and search for shells.
2 – Favorite coffee spot? T.M. Ward in Chatham. The flavor of the day iced coffee is my favorite!
3 – Favorite lunch place? My son loves the egg sandwiches at Chatham Sandwich Shop
4 – Favorite date night restaurant? Serenade in Chatham
5 – Who has the best bagels in town? Chatham Bagels is the best.
6 – Best slice of pizza in town? Chiantis is our family’s favorite place to get a pie- the kale salad there is delicious too!
7 – Favorite spot for ice cream? McCools in Madison has great ice cream and makes amazing cakes! My family also really enjoys going to Scoops in Chatham. It’s a short walk from Memorial Park for kids to play after their ice cream.
