Meet Katie Angell, Mendham Mom Behind Katie Ink! | Morris Bernards Moms

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
I grew up in Riverside,CT. After my husband and I got married we had a short run in NYC before moving to New Jersey in 2002. We moved to Mendham in 2008.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?
I have three awesome kids. Jack (14), Addy (11) and Brooke (8)

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
My husband, he is the greatest.
Also, my fellow Mendham moms. There are days that can be difficult and it is great to be able to share and talk with friends who can relate. On the flip side, I love being able to share all of the good stuff with friends, too!

Favorite things to do with your kids?
We are a family that loves the water. We love our time in Rhode Island in the summers at the beach, but when we are home, we like to ride our bikes, walk the loop at Natirar, grab a treat at Coco Luxe in Peapack or watch movies. I actually think we have the most fun when there is absolutely nothing planned and we are all together at home.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
I am! Katie Ink is a business I started a few years ago. In the beginning, I was making stationery and cards for kids. Today, I create art prints and t-shirts for kids. I love to sketch and doodle and one day I drew a very simple goose and wrote the word SILLY next to it. I could see it as a print for a playroom or a nursery. I sketched out twenty different designs that day. I knew I wanted to put the stationery aside and focus on the prints. My designs are simple, not snarky and hopefully make people smile.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
I love Mendham. It is such a kind and supportive community. There are some pretty extraordinary women who live here in Mendham. There are a few in particular who have really pushed me to put myself out there and make something of Katie Ink. I feel so fortunate to have a network of people cheering me on and lifting me up.
