Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the area?
I’m originally from Westchester County, NY and then lived in Manhattan for many years. We just bought our home in Mendham!

I’m the owner of Lauren Kara Photography that I started 7 years ago, specializing in newborn and family photography.
When did you decide you wanted to open your own Family Photography Business?
I got into photography after I left the jewelry industry. I always did photography as a hobby and I’m very lucky how it spiraled into a business. I lived in Battery Park, surrounded by families, so that’s how I got into the family aspect of photography.
Has art and photography always been a part of your life?
Yes! Art and photography have always been a part of my life. Growing up I made jewelry that I sold in a local store when I was in high school. That turned into officially having my own line that I sold in 30 stores. I was also always interested in photography growing up and through adulthood as well.
If you could give one tip to fellow Mom Entrepreneurs what would it be?
If I could give one tip it would be to know your way around social media and networking. I owe the expansion of my business to networking and the use of social media.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
People would be surprised to know that up until 2019 I didn’t even change a diaper, so once I had my son I really opened up my business to newborn photography in addition to families.
