I was born and raised in São Paulo Brazil and I moved to New Jersey 16 years ago

I own Luciana Skin Care in Mendham a SPA that offers, facials, waxing, hydrafacials, Lash Lift and Eyebrow Lamination, massages, spray tan and manicures and pedicures. I love to treat people the same way I want to be treated so making someone feel welcome and catering for they’re needs is our mission.
When did you decide you wanted to open your own Day Spa?
I worked in 4 different salons in NJ and for 5 years in a salon in Mendham and I build up a great clientele base and I feel that I need more I need to compile all the good things I learned over the years, So my husband told me “why you don’t open your own place?” And it is how I started 7 years ago
Has skincare and beauty always been a part of your life?
Yes absolutely I had terrible acne as a teenager and low self esteem because of that. My mom worked in a Salon in Brazil and I started having monthly Facials with Chemical Peels. During my treatments I always thought “What a cool job to be a esthetician she can listen to calm music all day and squeeze pimples!!!” So I definitely understand what is to struggle with your skin and I feel fulfill to be able to help my clients.
What do you recommend for someone looking to get their first facial?
I love to start doing a basic facial that we call the Signature Facial. We offer a discount for first time clients, so it is a great way to get to know their skin and after that I can make better recommendations for in home care products and future facials.
If you could give one tip to fellow Mom Entrepreneurs what would it be?
Takes a lot to juggle the house, kid and activities, work and the problems at work as well for me meditation is a huge part of my life I do it twice a day and I think is how I am able to keep myself calm and manage stress. I think to be a business owner is awesome and I have a passion for my work so transmitting peace and good energy when I am with my client is very important to me.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
About 18 years ago when I lived in Brazil I was trying to learn Spanish and while I was practicing the language I meet my Husband in a chat group. He is from Costa Rica and was living in the USA for many years and that is the reason I moved to the USA to follow my heart! It was hard to date when I didn’t really speak Spanish and nothing of English he was really persistent!
