Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the area?
I was born and raised in Rhode Island—Warren, to be exact—and I currently live in Riverside, RI with my family.
Do you have any Children and what are their Ages?
Yes, I have two boys. Quintin (Q) is 6 and Desmond (Desi) is 3.
Are you involved in a business venture or corporate world? Can you please share a bit?
Yes, I am the founder of Feast & Fettle, New England’s fastest-growing local meal-delivery service, which serves thousands of members across the Northeast.
How did the idea of Feast & Fettle come about?
Back in 2015, I worked as a private chef for a bunch of local families—many with young kids. I saw what a difference my cooking made in their lives, and how not having to worry about the shopping and meal prep gave them time in their hectic schedules to sit down and connect over a meal. I was getting really good feedback from those early clients, and it made me want to find a way to offer that same support (and nourishment) to more families and busy individuals. The logical next step was to turn my private cheffing gig into a meal service. So I asked my best friend, Nikki Nix, to help me launch Feast & Fettle, and we made it happen in 2016. Since then, we haven’t looked back.
Have you always worked in the culinary world?
Yes. Even the nannying job I had while completing the Culinary Nutrition program at Johnson & Wales University involved private cheffing for the same family.
What makes your food delivery service different from others?
I’d say F&F’s top three differentiators would be:
1) our fully-prepared, family-style meals
2) our local, in-house deliveries, and
3) our zero-waste initiative.
I’ll elaborate: First of all, a lot of our competitors are meal-kit services or they deliver pre-portioned plates (read: trays). With Feast & Fettle, you don’t have to worry about following a recipe because everything arrives ready to eat. And since it’s your family, you get to order and assemble the entrées and sides you want, and plate them the way you see fit. I should also add that we take sourcing very seriously, so our ingredients (many of which are local!) are always of the highest quality. We follow a strict set of standards we call our Food Ethos, and long story short: We don’t put anything in our food that we wouldn’t feel proud to serve our own families.
Second, your F&F meals aren’t shipped across the country in a cardboard box. They’re made locally, so we deliver them ourselves. Our driving staff is all in-house, because we wouldn’t trust just anyone with your food. And we operate our own fleet of refrigerated delivery vans.
Third, instead of that cardboard box, your meals arrive in insulated tote bags with commercial ice packs that our drivers pick up for you to sanitize and reuse. As for the containers, they’ll pick those up as well to send to our partners at Miller Recycling, who we trust to responsibly and reliably process the materials.
How does the membership work? Can you purchase meals without joining as a member?
Yes, you can order our meals à la carte without becoming a member. But for a $10-month membership, you get access to discounted plan pricing and bundles, unlimited free deliveries and customizations, Sunday + Monday deliveries, referral bonuses… Basically being a member is really the best option in terms of price and offerings, unless you’re just in town for a short visit and only want Feast & Fettle for that time frame.
If you could give one tip to fellow Mom Entrepreneurs what would it be?
Set boundaries and clearly define work and family time. It’s really helpful to create dedicated periods for work and for being present with your family.
