Meet Sarah Stango from Carpool Closet! | Morris Bernards Moms

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
I am originally from Pittsburgh, PA. After college I lived in NYC and slowly migrated into the suburbs. I’ve been in town for 5 years now.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?
Rebecca – 9
Jack – 7
Julia – 3

Favorite things to do with your kids?
One of my favorite activities to do with my kids is to go to the farm. It’s a little family tradition to go peach and strawberry picking in the summer and apple picking in the fall.

Are you involved in a business venture or corporate world? Please Share!
I’m involved in an online styling business. Some would label my role as an influencer, but my ultimate goal isn’t to have a huge online presence and I hate that title. I believe my business, Carpool Closet, is about sharing quality brands and other helpful items and recipes. Recently, I’ve been fascinated by the “about” page on the websites of smaller brands. I love to hear the story behind how a brand got started and I think it’s fun to share those brands with others.

In addition, I donate a portion of my monthly proceeds to a local charity each month. It’s important to me to give back.

When did you decide you wanted to open your business?
A little over two years ago I had a toddler and I remember coming home from my older daughter’s dance practice in ripped leggings and a stained t-shirt. All the responsibilities that come with motherhood are difficult and I pushed my own appearance to the bottom of the list. I decided that VERY day that I wanted to enjoy the happiness that comes from simply getting dressed. I want to inspire others to feel good in the midst of motherhood chaos too–this could mean reimagining clothes you already have in your closet or styling a new piece.

If you could give one tip to fellow Mom Entrepreneurs what would it be?
Just DO it! I think we all hesitate to start new activities. Make time for yourself, starting NOW.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
I love cooking. I find it exciting to try new recipes and therapeutic to cook them. Cleaning, on the other hand, I HATE!

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
I love the town we live in – there really is something refreshing about a small town. The support that comes from a well-connected group of ladies is indescribable.
