Meet Tricia Fehnel, owner of Trixie’s Pretty Pixies | Morris Bernards Moms

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the area?
I was born and raised in Scranton, PA but have been a Jersey girl since my mid 20’s (minus a job relocation to Northern VA which lasted 5 years) thanks to my NJ born husband. We have been in Mendham for the past 10 years and were in Morristown prior to that.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?
3 boys – ages 24, 20 and 17

Are you involved in a business venture or corporate world? Please Share!
I am the founder and owner of Trixie’s Pretty Pixies, a whimsical on-line children’s apparel store. Our signature product is a monthly t-shirt subscription which features a different, seasonal pixie/fairy t-shirt along with a magical story delivered straight to your doorstep each month. You can add a coordinating tutu to complete the adorable look.

How did the idea of Trixie’s Pretty Pixies come about?
The impetus for Trixie’s Pretty Pixies came about during COVID when I was looking to start an on-line business. I’ve always had an affinity for nature and story-telling and fairies/pixies seem to blend the best of both worlds.

Have you always worked in fashion and children’s accessories?
No, I have never worked in fashion or children’s accessories so this is all new to me which is fun and scary at the same time!

What makes your subscription business different from others?
As far as I know, there are no other subscriptions out there that offer a different children’s fairy shirt (and optional coordinating tutu) delivered to your doorstep each month. The shirts are seasonal so they can also serve as a way for moms to satisfy those holiday or seasonal requirements which seem to pop up each month at school.

Can you purchase items “a la carte” vs joining the monthly club?
Yes, you can purchase items a la carte. The best value, however, is signing up for a subscription which you can pause, skip or cancel at any time.

If you could give one tip to fellow Mom Entrepreneurs what would it be?
My one tip would be to plan on things taking longer than you originally thought when launching a new business and to surround yourselves with other entrepreneurs as much as possible to learn from them.
